Job Description

Overview: Triosim Corporation is seeking a driven and experienced mechanic to add to our small dynamic team focused on pump service work, located out of Darlington, SC. The Mechanic must perform skilled work in the disassembly, preparation, cleaning, inspection, assembly, maintenance, and repair of a variety of equipment used in the paper mill industry. Mechanics must employ a high degree of accuracy and precision in performing work according to instructions and specifications. Assignments are received in the form of oral instructions, manuals, blueprints, and by reference to worn or broken parts. This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt, position.

Essential Functions:

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble assemblies and sub-assemblies related to paper machinery using various power and hand tools.
  • Measures work carefully by using precision tools such as a micrometer.
  • Uses, adjusts, cleans, and stores the tools, machinery, and equipment of the mechanic’s trade.
  • Mounts and Dismounts Bearings and assemblies to OEM specifications using power pullers, grease assist, hydraulic nuts, Flux heaters, and occasionally cutting torch.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Knowledge of:

  • Job related materials.
  • The tools, materials, methods, and standard practices of the mechanic’s trade.
  • OEM specifications and measurements related to precision bearing fits and proper mounting procedures.
  • Working knowledge of bearing types, housings, journals, end covers, clutch hubs, seals, labyrinths, etc.
  • The hazards and safety precautions of the mechanic’s trade.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with Paper Ind. is a huge plus.
  • Overhead crane operation and handling large heavy objects by crane
  • Safe work procedures and ability to recognize need for and utilize all necessary personal protective devices and procedures

Ability to:

  • Visualize parts or equipment that need to be assembled from rough sketches and oral instructions.
  • Use graphic instructions such as blueprints, sketches, models, or other visual aids.
  • Understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions in the English language.
  • Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees.
  • Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

Additional Requirements:

  • Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending upon the work location, assignment, or shift.
  • Overtime hours may be required.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and /or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Must remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Make fine, highly controlled muscular movements to assemble complicated assemblies.
  • Controlled manipulations of small objects (Example: working with drills and micrometers).
  • Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.

Acceptable Experience and Training:

Two years of experience as a skilled mechanic and completion of a recognized apprenticeship program, or four years of experience as a skilled mechanic. Other combinations of experience and education that meet requirements may be substituted.
