Job Description

The Legal and Compliance Assistant will be able to perform the following essential functions under the supervision of the Company’s General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer (“GC/CCO”).

Litigation Assistance Duties:

  • Assist GC/CCO with collections matters by preparing and sending demand letters, editing and proofreading GC/CCO’s work, following up with customers and calendaring events, assist with filing court papers, and managing and organizing files and keeping track of key dates.
  • Assist GC/CCO with maintaining GC/CCO’s Litigation Tracker.
  • Assist GC/CCO with other litigation matters as needed including without limitation discovery matters, exhibit preparation and organization, and other trial preparation.
  • Become proficient with court’s e-filing system to e-file court papers.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and attend meetings and depositions, as needed.

Transactional Duties:

  • Assist GC/CCO with contract management by:

o Coordinating with internal staff and customers to ensure contracts are being reviewed by GC/CCO sent to customers on a timely basis; and,

o Becoming proficient with contract management system (i.e., be able to upload/import contracts, approve contracts, redline contracts and upload new versions, prepare contracts for signature, search for contracts, add attachments to contracts, link contracts, etc.) so that he or she is able to manage each contract’s lifecycle within it.

  • Assist GC/CCO with insurance claim negotiations by corresponding with claimants, investigating claims, managing and organizing the claim files, and negotiating claim resolutions.
  • Assist GC/CCO with policy and procedure creation including without limitation drafting and researching related duties.
  • Attend and participate in claims and other meetings.

Compliance Duties:

  • Assist GC/CCO with compliance responsibilities by:

o Preparing bid declarations for GC/CCO’s review and signature;

o Delivering compliance training and preparing compliance training materials; and,

o Managing and scheduling compliance training through Percipio.

  • Assist GC/CCO with maintaining, updating, and improving compliance documents including Code of Conduct, compliance training materials, and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Assist GC/CCO with maintaining and updating Compliance Calendar.
  • Attend and participate in meetings.
